Find Articles by Topic

The best place to start your research is with Primo, the library's discovery system. Primo can search for books, articles, journals and other resources from a single interface and provides direct access to thousands of electronic articles and e-books. If you are interested in a particular type of format, such as journal articles, you can use the filters in Primo to limit your search to that format. It is also important to login to Primo when you search so you retrieve the most complete set of results.

Although Primo can search the majority of the library collection, both print and electronic, not every resource we subscribe to will appear in Primo. For instance, factual information contained in drug information databases like Micromedex and the USP-NF is best located in those specific databases. The complete list of the library's electronic databases can be found on Databases A-Z. Many of these resources provide tailored searching of scholarly literature in specific disciplines, such as pharmacy, biology, or occupational therapy. You can search these databases for both primary and secondary literature to complement an initial search of the Primo system.

Points to keep in mind:

  • If you'd like to search for journals rather than articles, use the Journal Search feature of Primo.
  • If we do not own a journal that contains the article you need, the article can be obtained through ILLiad, the Library’s interlibrary loan service. ILLiad can be accessed directly, or you may see links for ILLiad in Primo or other databases where you discover an article's citation.
  • Another local library may own the particular journal title that you need.  Click here for a listing of area libraries that permit USciences students, faculty, and staff to use their collections, and for further information on visitor guidelines.
