Find Books, Videos & Kits

The Basics

The J.W. England Library has a specialized collection of 85,000 volumes focused on the sciences. If we do not have a book you need, we can get it for you from another library.

  • To find paper books and other physical materials the library owns, search in Primo, the library's discovery system. Primo will tell you the location of each item within the library. See below for more detail.
  • To find e-books and other electronic resources, you would also search in Primo. Look for item records that say "Online Access" or "Full Text Available". If you are off-campus, you will be asked to sign-in to access most electronic resources.
  • If we don't own a book you'd like to read, use E-ZBorrow to borrow it from another library. Login to E-ZBorrow using your USciences ID number and search for the book. If the book is not available via E-ZBorrow, then you may request it via ILLiad.
  • If you want to get an item immediately, our consortial agreements may allow you to access it by visiting another library. Check Using Other Libraries to see if a library convenient to you owns the book you want.

How to Find Paper Books

Search in Primo by keyword, title, or author.  The discovery system will list the location and call number for each book.

Circulating books are shelved on the 3rd floor, arranged by call number.  The call numbers of most of our books begin with letters of the alphabet.  Older books begin directly with numbers.  To see a description of call numbers and the subjects they represent, click here.

Non-circulating items are located on the 1st floor (Reference and Reserve) or 2nd floor (Journals).

Circulating books can be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card.

Having trouble finding the book you need? Ask A Librarian.

How to Find Videos

Videos can also be located in Primo. You can either do an Advanced Search, selecting "Audio Visual" from the Material Type drop-down, or do a basic search by keyword or title and select the "Audio Visual" filter under Resource Type in the right-hand menu.

DVDs and VHS videos are stored on the 2nd floor.  They can be borrowed by faculty and staff ONLY, and circulate for one week.  They should be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card.

Online videos and audio clips will have a status of "Online access" in Primo. Click on the link given to access the resource. If you are off-campus, you may be asked to sign-in to access the item.

How to Find Kits

Assessment kits are located on the 1st floor of the Library in a gray cabinet labeled "Occupational Therapy Assessments." Kits circulate for one week. They can be checked out at the 1st floor Circulation Desk with a current USciences ID card. To learn more about searching for OT kits in Primo, visit the Occupational Therapy subject guide.

Ask A Librarian if you cannot find the kit you need.
