Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Requests: ILLiad & E-ZBorrow

InterLibrary Loan (ILL) is a service through which journal articles, disserations, and books which are not owned by J. W. England Library may be requested from other libraries. All currently affiliated USciences faculty, staff and students are eligible to use ILL - even distance students. There is no charge for this service. Limited ILL services are available to alumni for a fee.

ILLiad (Request an Article or Dissertation)
You may request journal articles and dissertations through ILLiad. Books may also be requested, but they must be unavailable through E-ZBorrow. If you are using ILLiad for the first time, you will have to initially set up your account. Once the account is created, simply log in to place and monitor your ILLiad requests.

Most articles are delivered via the web in .pdf format, with notification of availability sent to valid USciences email addresses. In cases where an article cannot be transmitted electronically, a photocopy will either be mailed (generally through campus mail), or placed on file behind the Circulation Desk. Patrons are notified by phone or e-mail when books arrive for them.

E-ZBorrow (Request a Book)
E-ZBorrow is a service that enables patrons to borrow books directly from those libraries participating in PALCI, the Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. Please note: Only books which are not available from JW England Library may be requested via E-ZBorrow, so check availability in Primo before searching in E-ZBorrow.

To use E-ZBorrow, just log in (*), locate the book or other material you need, and request it. The book will be sent from the lending library, and will be available for pick-up at the Circulation Desk. The book will be checked out to you for 28 days from pick-up date. Patrons also have one automatic renewal.

Can't find the book you need through E-ZBorrow? Simply place your request via ILLiad.

*Your E-ZBorrow login is your USciences ID number as shown on your ID card:

  • Your ID# should be listed on your ID card as a 7-digit number. Enter this number in the "Patron Id" field in E-ZBorrow to login. NOTE: You must enter 7 digits to login; if there are fewer than 7 digits printed on your ID, just type additional zeroes before your ID number so it becomes a 7-digit number. For example, if your ID number is 654321, enter 0654321. If your ID number is 54321, enter 0054321.
  • Older cards include a 12-14 digit number marked as "Lib:". As of August 2017, we are no longer using this number for any library purposes.

Occassionally neither the "Lib:" number nor the 7-digit ID number allow a login to E-ZBorrow. Usually this can be quickly corrected, so if you cannot login to E-ZBorrow please report the issue to us via Ask a Librarian. Remember to include your name and please tell us if you have been issued a replacement ID card recently.

Book Purchase Requests (Students & Faculty)

Students - Request a Book Purchase
Is there a title or author you'd like to see in the Library's collection? Please let us know by filling out the Book Purchase Request Form.

Faculty - Request a Book Purchase
A good library collection results from the collaboration of the library faculty and faculty in each department. To foster a close relationship, a librarian has been appointed to serve as a liaison to each department. While the departmental liaison is responsible for final selection, your input is essential. When you use the Book Purchase Request Form, your request will be sent to your liaison. For the full list of departmental liaisons, please go to our Liaisons page.

Place a Book on Reserve (Faculty Only)

Reserve Request Form
To request that the Library purchase a new title or updated edition, please complete a Reserve Request Form (one per title). You may also place your personal materials on Reserve by bringing them to the Circulation Desk between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, weekdays.

If you have books on Reserve from a previous semester, you will receive a list detailing these titles via email. Please indicate whether you would like the Library to retain or remove these from Reserve. Please contact Hilda Wilson, Circulation Manager, ( or 215-596-8960) if you have any questions about book reserves.
